Neuromuscular Therapy is a highly specialized type of soft tissue therapy. It is designed to balance the Central Nervous System with the structure and form of the Musculoskeletal system. NeuroMuscular Therapy relieves pain and returns injured tissues to normal function, naturally bringing the body back into alignment. It can provide long-term pain relief where other approaches have failed. It utilizes specific, targeted soft tissue treatment and addresses the release of tissues layer by layer, superficial to deep, treating both tendon attachments as well as the belly of the muscles stimulating the body to heal on its own and eliminate the causes of most muscular pain. It addresses postural and muscular imbalances, nerve entrapment, trigger points and chronic/acute pain. Homeostasis (balance) is restored between the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. NeuroMuscular Therapy enhances the function of joints, muscles, and the biomechanics of the body, and speeds healing by facilitating the release of the body’s natural pain killers, endorphins.”
Cupping therapy has many benefits in restoring health to the body. Releasing scar tissue and fascial adhesions, reduction in painful trigger points, improving circulation, blood and lymph circulation, relieving pain, promoting mobility and range of motion, and decreasing toxins. Cupping works to either bring blood flow into an area that isn't receiving enough, or pulling excess blood from an over used or injured muscle. Muscle Scraping is used to help break up scar tissue or adhesions in the fascia and muscles. Specific tools are used to assist the therapist. It promotes better blood flow and nutrient uptake, which support faster healing and shown to improve range of motion. It is pretty common to experience some discomfort, petechiae, or redness during the treatment and some soreness the day after treatment.
Myofascial Release is a gentle stretching of the fascia and muscle fibers, eliminating restrictions and adhesions and return range of motion, and eliminate your pain! Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber, and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin. If Fascia is not moving freely the whole area will experience pressure, malnourishment, and ultimately painful restriction in movement and at rest. How can Myofascial release help when massage hasn’t? Myofascial Release Therapy is a hands-on modality that gently stretches the muscles and fascia, focusing on specific areas and causes of pain by eliminating restrictions and releasing bound muscle fibers, thereby eliminating pain, and restoring range of motion! Myofascial release does not use oils or lotion. You might feel the sensation of heat as blood flow returns to an area that has been restricted. Muscle spasms or twitches are common as the muscle relaxes and resets a great sign for a future of pain free wellness.
Muscles, no matter what they do individually, also affect tissues throughout the entire body through Fascia based interconnections. These interconnections are called Fascia lines and can be followed by the body’s dissectible “meridians” of connective tissue structures. They consist of membranes and ligaments, both superficial and deep connective tissue, loose and tight. Fascia lines create stability, resistance, power, flexibility, elasticity, and above all- compensatory posture. So connective tissue structures work in sync, creating a fluid and balanced movement and a posture that maintains balance and direct contact between all body parts. When muscles are locked in either a static mode, or short locked mode and skeletal parts have gotten out of position the body becomes out of sync.
Your musculoskeletal system includes your bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and connective tissues. Your skeleton provides a framework for your muscles and other soft tissues. Together, they support your body's weight, maintain your posture and help you move. If there are issues the symptoms include Stiff Joints, Fatigue, Inflammation, Tenderness, Swelling, Difficulty in moving, Muscle spasm, Bruising and discoloration. Some of the well known musculoskeletal disorders are Tendonitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Carpal Tunnel, and Fibromyalgia.
Trigger points develop in the myofascia, mainly in the center of a muscle belly. There are 3 types of trigger points. Active trigger points are painful when touched and can cause pain in other areas of the body. Passive trigger points are not always painful when touched but may cause pain in other areas of the body. Satellite trigger points are similar to active ones but are not as painful. When your body is under stress, whether the stressor is physical or emotional, it always has a reaction to cope with it. Trigger Points found in your skeletal muscles where your body has the potential to store that stress-energy for a long period of time. These are the locations on your muscles that exhibit extraordinary sensitivity, and in some cases, may become so stressed that they produce limited movement, stiffness, and pain.
Kim has Certifications in NeuroMuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Cupping, Muscle Scraping, Scoliosis Specific Massage, KT Taping, and Licensed Massage Therapist. Kim is a 2017 graduate from ASIS Massage School in Arizona. She went on to further her education as a highly specialized therapist, with a customized approach for each individual. Kim's one of a kind blend of techniques has proven to be uniquely in tune with her clients, producing Incredible results of breaking pain cycles and eliminating the cause of acute/chronic pain.
“I had been struggling with such extreme muscle tension in my jaw, neck, and shoulders for the past two years that I was completely unable to eat solid foods. Doctors were at a loss and had prescribed every test imaginable in search of answers to my “mystery” illness. Then I was introduced to Kim, who took the challenge to try helping where every other doctor had failed. Her focus, techniques, and skill has attacked the problem at its source and I finally feel like I’m on my path to victory and real healing. I can eat again, no longer grind my teeth at night, am nearly pain-free, and can see my old self returning to normal. Kim has truly been a Godsend in my time of need.”
I came to Kim with the major compliant of neck and shoulder pain. Kim utilized a multitude of techniques to relieve my pain including deep tissue massage, scraping, cupping etc! She went above and beyond to even help me design a work from home set up to ensure I had proper posture while working from my computer!
Kim is one of the best massage therapists I've had work on me - she integrated multiple techniques to painlessly release muscles. I carry all my stress in my neck, shoulders and upper back and like many people, have had therapists digging into tight muscles and knots with their elbows to release the muscles - and leave bruises! Kim's gentle and persistent approach releases the muscles and doesn't have me twisting in agony during the process. Every massage starts with a conversation about where the issues are and what I'm looking to accomplish - this is so much better than the 'one size fits all' approach. Do yourself a favor and schedule a session with Kim, you will be back.
